Examine Your “WHY”

March 29, 2026 • Randy Eliason & 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13

1 Corinthians 13 stands as the crown and climax of Paul the Apostle’s message in First Epistle to the Corinthians. In this passage, we are invited by the Spirit to examine not only our actions, but also the motives behind them. No matter how impressive our spiritual gifts, sacrifices, or even supernatural speech may seem, without love they are ultimately meaningless. Paul reminds us that love must be the driving force behind every spiritual expression, and that true love is patient, kind, humble, and grounded in truth. It does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but confronts it with both grace and truth, and it never gives up or fails.

This message challenges the spirit of expressive individualism and calls us to embody the love of Jesus Christ in our daily lives. It is a love that builds others up, corrects with compassion, and endures through every season. As we reflect on this, we are led to ask ourselves: “Why do I do what I do?” When Jesus truly has our hearts, He will also have our hands—and our lives will begin to reflect His love in all that we do.
