Fully Surrendered!

In Week 4 of Close Encounters with Jesus, we explore Jesus' encounter with the rich young ruler in Mark 10:17–31. Although the young man sincerely desired eternal life and had faithfully kept God's commandments, he was unwilling to let go of the wealth that had captured his heart.

Through this conversation, Jesus reveals that eternal life cannot be earned by good works or religious devotion. Instead, it is received by those who place their complete trust in Him. Jesus' invitation, "Come, follow Me," is not a command to embrace poverty, but a call to surrender anything that competes with our love for and trust in Him.

This passage challenges us to examine our own hearts and identify what may be keeping us from following Christ wholeheartedly. As His disciples, we are called to live with open hands, seek first the kingdom of God, and trust that His provision is always greater than anything we are asked to surrender.

Ultimately, Jesus' question remains the same for each of us today: Do you trust Me enough to follow Me?
