DAY 8 Called to Fulfill His Plan - Ephesians 3:7–13

1. SCRIPTURE: Ephesians 3:7–13
7 Of this gospel I was made a minister according to the gift of God’s grace, which was given me by the working of his power. 8 To me, though I am the very least of all the saints, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to bring to light for everyone what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in God, who created all things, 10 so that through the church the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places. 11 This was according to the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him. 13 So I ask you not to lose heart over what I am suffering for you, which is your glory.  
 
2. OBSERVATIONS :
- What did this passage mean to its original audience?
Paul was writing while imprisoned because of his ministry to the Gentiles (Ephesians 3:1). His suffering could have discouraged the Ephesian believers, making them wonder if God’s plan was failing. But Paul told them not to lose heart because of his suffering (v. 13). His imprisonment was not a defeat. It was part of his faithful calling to preach the gospel and bring Gentiles into God’s family. So he wanted them to understand that his suffering was ultimately for their sake and for the sake of the gospel. Instead of seeing his chains as a reason to be discouraged, they could see his faithfulness as an encouragement to remain faithful themselves.

- What does this passage reveal about God?

•  
• "according to the gift of God’s grace" : God calls us into His mission by His grace. He chose us not because we are worthy or capable, but because He is gracious (v. 7).  
• "by the working of his power." God gives His divine strength to help us fulfill His calling (v. 7). Just as He empowered Paul, God’s power enables us to do what we could never accomplish on our own.
•  "the eternal purpose that he has realized in Christ Jesus our Lord” Jesus is the center of God’s eternal plan. In Jesus, God revealed His heart, His salvation, and His desire to unite all people into one family. God brings all nations together through Jesus. He breaks down every barrier and makes people who were once divided into one body and one family.
   

- What does this passage reveal about people?

• We are called to fulfill His plan.  God, in His grace, chooses people like us—weak, unqualified, and undeserving—and brings us into His mission. He doesn’t just call us; He strengthens us with His power so we can accomplish what we could never do by ourselves. Because of His grace and power, we now carry the gospel to the nations and join in the unfolding of God’s eternal plan.

• "through the church the manifold wisdom of God " God works through the church to display His wisdom. So, the church is not simply a place where people attend worship services. The church itself is meant to show the world what God is like. When people from different backgrounds become one family in Christ, when believers forgive one another, serve one another, love one another, and worship Jesus together, the church becomes a living picture of God’s wisdom.

 3. APPLICATION: What does this passage impact my affections, attitudes and actions?
1. Attitudes —  My calling is rooted in God’s grace, not in my qualifications. Instead of feeling discouraged by my weaknesses or focusing on what I cannot do, I want to trust that God will give me what I need to fulfill His purpose. I do not have to be perfect or fully prepared before God can use me. His grace is enough.

Looking at Paul’s life, I also realize that following Jesus is not always easy or comfortable. Being faithful to God can sometimes bring sacrifice, rejection, and difficult seasons. But when I face difficulties while serving God, I want to look at them differently. Hard situations do not mean that God has abandoned me, and they do not mean that His work has failed. Instead, I want to trust that God can still work through my struggles and use them for His purpose.

2. Affections —  I want to care more about being faithful to Jesus than just living a quiet, easy life. Instead of being afraid of hard times, I want my heart to trust that God is always working, even when I cannot see it and remain faithful, even when the path is difficult, remembering that God’s purpose is bigger than my present circumstances.

I also want to love the church more deeply and help create a community where people can experience the love and wisdom of God. When we love, forgive, serve, welcome, and worship one another together, we show the world what God is like. I want my life to help build that kind of community

3. Actions — Just as Paul wrote to encourage the Ephesians, I will reach out to people who are going through a tough time and remind them that they are loved and that God has not given up on them. I will encourage them, welcome them, pray for them, listen to their stories, serve behind the scenes, and help them feel that they belong.

4. PRAYER:
Dear Father,
Thank You for calling me by Your grace. Help me trust You when life is difficult and remain faithful to Your purpose. Teach me to love Your church and encourage people who are struggling. Use my life and small acts of service to show Your love and wisdom.
